4/29...‘Steady’ Eddie Hoffman Runs To Big ASALMS North Division Win By Jim Blacroch

   Series Veteran Out Races Youngsters

Eddie Hoffman is just 48-years of age. He races in a series that is populated by 14-to-19 year olds and the 20-something set, looking for their place in the motorsports world. Hoffman of Wheaton, Ill., knows his full well. He’s been the ‘wheel-man’ for Tom Kmak and his Lisa Thomas Salon machines in Midwest Late Model racing for the past 15-or-so years.

Hoffman, Kmak and company have been running the ASALMS North Division and Challenge Series races over the past couple of seasons and in Friday nights GunBroker.com 100 presented by ASA Limited for the North Division, ASA Late Model Series at O’Reilly Raceway Park (IRP) Hoffman went out and taught the younger-set a lesson.

Hoffman worked his way around defending North Division champion, Trent Snyder of Ironton, Minn., on lap 61, showed great patience in working his way to the top spot from the 7th place starting position.

“I really didn’t know if I was going to have something for Trent or not,” offered Hoffman following the event. “I was trying to save some tires, keep the momentum going, not use the car up and he was good, but the longer the run went, the better we got.”

4/19...Toledo Rainout Provides a Closer Peak into       ASA Late Model Series

Under the cold blanket of a steel covered sky that dripped down and ground racing to a halt for the Glassbreaker 125 weekend for the ASA Late Model Series, North Division at Toledo Speedway in Ohio, there were some positives to be witnessed.

On Friday teams were able to partake in a practice session for the three divisions on hand (ASA North Late Models, USPRO Cup Series Late Models and the USA Modifieds) that lasted nearly five and a half hours.

                                                            more from Speed51.com...

EXCERPT...“It is a good program,” stated Tom Kmak, owner of the Lisa Thomas Salons machines that Eddie Hoffman drives.
“Back in the days with the NASCAR Midwest Tour I spent four times the amount of money on the engine program. I do like the
bias-ply program better then the radial program, but those are the rules of the series and I understand the development aspect
for the young drivers.”

Only one point position left for Eddie Hoffman and the T.K. Racing Team as they prepare for the 2008 ASALMS Challenge Division Season.

Eddie Hoffman finished Third in the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Presented by GM Performance Parts points standings in 2006, his first year of running full-time in the Lexington, Michigan-based series.
During the 2007 season, Hoffman advanced one position and was the runner-up to 2007 ASALMS Challenge Division Champion, Travis Dassow. It seems to make the most sense that the 48-year-old Wheaton, Illinois veteran has one position left to get too in 2008 and that’s exactly what Hoffman and the T.K. Racing Team are going after!     more...

“After a very long Midwest Winter, I’m definitely looking forward to beginning the 2008 season and

51's Pre-Season Short Track Power Ratings by Mike Twist

"How can you not pick a guy who wins in everything he drives? Eddie Hoffman will be hard to beat this year."
"Eddie Hoffman is a veteran who looks a little out of sorts at ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division drivers meetings…I mean, after all, he shaves, has his drivers license and been on a date before. He is from suburban Chicago and away from the track plays recreational hockey. In another words, he's tough. And he brings that tough-guy mentality with him to the racetrack. A threat to win wherever he and his Lisa Thomas Salon team pull to. But they always seem to have a race or two where something weird happens, snake bitten if you will, costing them a good finish. My prediction: A few wins and a solid fourth place point placing."     more...
